How Many Times Can You Resit an ACCA Exam?

There is no limit on the number of times you can resit an individual ACCA exam. If you fail a paper, you can attempt it again at a future sitting as many times as you need — ACCA does not cap resits per exam.

So what are the actual limits?

The constraints are about timing, not the number of attempts:

• You can sit a maximum of four exams in any one exam session.
• You can take a maximum of eight exams per calendar year across all sessions.
• Once you start the Strategic Professional exams you must complete them within a set time limit (currently seven years), or your earliest passes begin to expire.

These caps can change, so always confirm the current rules on the ACCA website before you plan a heavy sitting.

Should you keep resitting the same way?

Resitting without changing your approach tends to produce the same result. Most repeat fails come down to exam technique — unanswered requirements, thin application, or careless slips — not a lack of knowledge.
